Discovery Holiday Parks – Cloncurry (formerly Gilbert Park Tourist Village) in Queensland’s Outback is the perfect base for adventure sports, fishing and outdoor pursuits. Accessible from Winton (3.5 hours) and Longreach (5.5 hours), Cloncurry is located just over an hour’s drive from Mt Isa and offers a range of historic and natural attractions.

Visitors can experience life in the mines with guided tours by real miners at Outback at Isa, hear tales of prehistoric wildlife from the resident palaeontologist at the Riverside Fossil Centre or appreciate the native flora at The Outback Park.
Just over 3 and a half hours away is the historic town of Winton; recognised as the birthplace of Qantas and the inaugural performance of Banjo Patterson’s famous tune, Waltzing Matilda. The Australian Age of Dinosaurs in the Museum of Natural History features a large collection of dinosaur fossils, while Lark Quarry, 110km from town, is home to 3300 fossilised footprints which capture the only recorded dinosaur stampede on earth.
Further afield at Longreach Airport, visitors can gain an insight into the history of Australia’s national airline at the Qantas Founders Museum, while the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame showcases all the action of an experienced stockman and his team of bullocks.
